North West Hospice Charity was proud to recognise Kathleen Flanagan as its 2026 Hospice Hero in advance of the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign launch. Kathleen, a dedicated volunteer based in Carrick-on-Shannon, has been instrumental in leading and growing local fundraising efforts in Carrick-on-Shannon and its surrounding area, coordinating volunteers and driving strong community support year after year. She was honoured alongside 19 volunteers nationwide at a ceremony in St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, with the award presented by Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador Miriam O’Callaghan. Now in its 36th year, Hospice Sunflower Days will take place from 12–13 June 2026 with fundraising collections taking place right across our region, helping to raise funds for the charity supporting and enhancing specialist palliative care services across the North West.
