DESCRIPTION:North West Hospice is launching a new bereavement initiative to support those who have experienced the death of a loved one under our Hospice and Palliative Care service. The Walk and Talk Bereavement Group will provide a supportive space to connect with others who have also experienced loss\, offering the comfort of shared understanding in a peaceful\, natural setting. \nAbout the Walk and Talk Group:\n The group aims to help participants find connection and solace by meeting others who understand the experience of grief. Together\, we’ll take gentle outdoor walks\, allowing participants to connect not only with each other but also with the calming presence of nature. This annual event promises a day of remembrance\, community spirit\, and fundraising to support the North West Hospice Charity. \nParticipants will embark on a picturesque 5km walk\, tracing the tranquil path along the Garavogue River into the serene Doorly Park in Sligo. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels\, the walk offers an opportunity for reflection\, camaraderie\, and community support. Last year\, the Memorial Walk saw an astounding turnout of nearly 300 participants\, collectively raising an impressive €39\,002.23. These funds have directly benefited patients and families across the region\, providing support during challenging times. \nAt North West Hospice\, every euro raised makes a tangible difference. Proceeds from the Memorial Walk go towards developing and enhancing our specialist palliative care services\, ensuring that patients and their families receive the support they need. From facility improvements to essential equipment procurement\, these funds play a role in advancing the hospice’s mission of compassionate care. \n“Every year\, the North West Hospice Memorial Walk is a great day out!
